Let's focus on detoxing for the next few days. Detoxification means cleaning the blood. Toxins are processed for elimination in the liver, kidneys, intestines, lymph, and the list goes on. Detoxing the body is basically internal bathing. Creativity has allowed us so many ways to detox. My favorite is the raw food diet, while incorporating plenty of water. The holidays will be here before you know it. Soon you will start hearing and seeing all the traditional foods we all eat, during the holiday season. My sincere hope is to equip you with some tips that may make this eating situation better for you. With the above mentioned, maybe you should eliminate pop/soda completely, during the holiday season. The huge amount of sugar could only make things worst. Also, increasing your water intake will make a huge difference in how you feel, especially when you consume a lot of fatty foods. More importantly, try to exercise at least an hour per day: this will help with weight gain tremendously, during this season. If you can, try to avoid butter, gravy and salt. In addition, try to drink a full glass of water, or eat a nice portion of fruit before every meal; this will help with overeating. Try to limit your time in the kitchen to 1 hour, and then leave and go get some fresh air. Start off eating out of a bowl instead of a huge plate of food. Do not lay down or go to sleep after each meal. Do not skip meals. Do not eat after 8:00 P.M. Do not fix yourself 2 plates!!! Overall, you are in control of you. You have to take control of your habits and learn to treat your body right. More importantly, you have to love yourself, which means taking care of your body.

OK! I know you don't want to hear this, but you have to stop eating because you're board. If you don't have anything to do, you could read, dance, go see a good movie or take a long walk with a friend you haven't spent time with in ages. How many times do you eat at the restaurant during the week? Do you eat according to your mood? Are you stressed? Are you happy? Do the people you hang around have bad eating habits? The list could go on and on but I think you get the picture. Drink a full 8oz glass of water before every meal. Have someone else fix your plate if you feel like you’re going to fix too much. When you get upset, go write a long letter to yourself explaining how you have control over your anger and you’re not going to take your anger out on your body. Mail the letter to yourself and read it out loud when it arrives. Limit your time at the grocery store to 30 minutes not including the time you wait in the line. Find all the healthy stuff you like first then follow with all other needs. Have a contest with your family/friends or co-workers on who can go the longest without eating fast food or at the restaurant. Start the pot at $20 per person and have each person agree to pay 10.00 every time they cheat. Try to hold the contest for at least a month.
